Home Grown and Hand Made

The DSL is VERY distracting, like watching bad TV. I just keep flipping web pages. Yikes.
I started another man tie today, in a blue, almost periwinkle. Very sharp. Would like to get at least two up before Easter, but it’s less than two weeks! How did that happen?

I have been eating out way too much, even if mostly at the cafe, so I actually cooked last night: yellow squash goat cheese custard–like a quiche w/o the crust. I use recipes the way I use everything else, as a guide, but not a rule. I added spinach, mushrooms, garlic and water chestnuts for a snappy crunch. It was delicious. Plus, it feels good to have real food in the fridge, not just juice and yogurt. I ate it again today with a Romain lettuce salad from my own garden–yes, it is March and I have lettuce already. Crazy. Look at it! Overnight, I swear, woosh! And it’s so delicious, fresh, crisp, straight from the dirt. Aah. I love it. Sometimes, I just stand outside and crunch on it while I’m fiddling in the yard.

Okay, I have a list, and it’s long: bills, crochet, photos, stuff. And I will not get distracted by the incredible speed in which I can peruse Etsy or YouTube. Discipline, man, it’s all about discipline. Uh-huh.
Oh! Just finished two fabulous novels: Ann Patchett’s Runand Anne Ursu’s The Disapparition of James. Really great reads.
